Funding our Future: Inner & Outer Economics in Waldorf Education & Pedagogy

Drawing on Rudolf Steiner’s lectures on economic life and the principles of associative economics, keynote speaker Timothy Kennedy will explore a question every Waldorf community eventually meets: How do we work with economics in a way that is as conscious, truthful, and human as the pedagogy we practice in the classroom? And how can this alignment become a practice that funds our future selves, students, and schools?

The conference begins with a Friday evening session and continues with three sessions on Saturday. Throughout the weekend, Timothy will weave together presentation, conversation, practical exercises, and skits, creating opportunities to explore economic ideas through experience as well as discussion.

Timothy Kennedy is an American entrepreneur, educator, and anthroposophist who teaches associative economics, entrepreneurship and financial literacy. He is active with the Economics Conference of the Goetheanum and the Social Sciences Section in North America.

An overview of Associative Economics in our lives and schools. Whether you teach toward the future, balance a school’s books, serve on a board, dream of founding a new initiative, or simply want to understand how money can be a spiritually healthy human instrument rather than an unhealthy abstraction, economics matters. For our children, from kindergarten up, experience of it in its healthy truth is crucial for thriving individuals and community.

Saturday Sessions

Session I — Inner Economics: The Forces at Work in our Agreements, Transactions, and Financial Health

Steiner’s economic lectures and the spiritual foundations of associative economics.

Session II — Accounting as the Language of Accountability: A Science of the Invisible

Bookkeeping, transparency, and financial literacy as the ground of integrity, truth and freedom.

Session III — Outer Economics: Conscious Entrepreneurship & Initiative Realization

Capital as Spirit realized, gift, investment, and exchange monies and their roles in the curriculum and school funding, and the social and spiritual health of initiatives in service.
