Marta Bak, Executive Director – Marta has been a dedicated member of the Waldorf community for more than 14 years as a parent and more recently, as a grandparent. Since September 2022, while at RSCC, she worked with James, colleagues, students and community members to help the College in realizing its goals. Marta has worked and volunteered in the not-for-profit sector almost all her adult life, more recently, in housing, and before that, in immigration. She studied anthropology and international development at the bachelor level and later received a master’s degree in social anthropology.
Karen Weyler, Director of Waldorf Early Childhood Education – Karen is a Registered Early Childhood Educator with 25 years of experience as a Waldorf early childhood teacher, including kindergarten, nursery, parent-and-child classes, home childcare operator, and licensed childcare centre supervisor. She was a founder of the Trillium Waldorf School and Star Seedlings Family and Childcare Centre in Guelph. As a teacher educator, she has taught in Canada as well as in China, Nepal and Vietnam. As a true thought leader in the field, she brings deep knowledge of child development and an abiding passion for ensuring children are met with warmth and wisdom through their early years.
Paul White, Waldorf Teacher Education Lead – Paul brings a wealth of experience from his years as both a Waldorf class teacher in New Zealand, England and Myanmar and as director of teacher education at Taruna College. He was also a senior lecturer on the Steiner Education program at Auckland University of Technology in New Zealand. More recently, Paul has been a peripatetic Waldorf teacher/mentor and a volunteer on stART’s Emergency Pedagogy program in Turkey. This has allowed him to combine his passion for anthroposophical initiatives with his pleasure in experiencing different cultures, trekking up mountains and making new friends.
Robby Gass, Director of Biodynamic Farming Education: With over 30 years experience, Robby Gass is a seasoned agricultural manager, consultant and trainer for large scale mixed organic and biodynamic farming, soil biology and market gardening. Born and raised in South Africa to English-Scottish parents, Robby broadened his understanding and expertise as an educator and consultant in horticulture and organic farming, while earning an MSc in organic farming from SRUC Glasgow University. He also attended Dr. Elaine Ingham’s world-renowned Soil Food Web School in Oregon where he was awarded a certificate in soil microscopy.
