“When I discovered the RSCT distance program (I don’t know why I hadn’t found it sooner. Is it new?) I couldn’t believe it. I figured there must be a catch–to have something so affordable, so accessible, and so flexible, and yet was built around human interaction and an actual mentor whom I would see and speak with regularly. It seemed too good to be true, so I wasted no time in calling and getting all the information I needed. I also got several of my colleagues to enroll at the same time, as their lives have similar constraints and their desire to work with a person as opposed to an email thread/virtual classroom is also strong.
What you are offering is truly unique, and as such a very valuable asset not only to the Waldorf community but to anyone wishing to expand their understanding of the human experience.”
How Does The Program Work?
The program consists of one-on-one mentoring meetings, either over the telephone, or online through Skype or Zoom. Students can start anytime, anywhere in the world. In addition to providing an introduction to anthroposophy, the program also serves as a preparation for teacher education courses in grades and early childhood education at Rudolf Steiner Centre Toronto. This certificate course is also recognized by the Association of Waldorf Schools of North America (AWSNA).
Part one consists of 12 sessions, and part two, 20 sessions. The cost is $900 for Part 1, $1,550 for Part 2. Plus $50 to register. Prices in CAD
Would Students Recommend it?
“Yes, I would. I experienced a lot of personal growth during this course. I gained tools for self-awareness and learned many interesting things about topics ranging from agriculture to education, architecture and movement.”
“The course was very helpful in guiding me through the foundations of anthroposophy, and more. Over the course of my mentorship, I developed a clearer picture of the world through an anthroposophical lens and concluded feeling as though that lens is now one I carry with me and can continue to develop on my own.”
“Yes, most definitely. I believe it gave me a great introduction to what the Waldorf pedagogy is about.”
“Yes. I took the Distance Foundations Program because I was curious to know Waldorf education. But after I took the course, I realized anthroposophy benefited me a lot in my personal growth, especially my inner development. I believe such experience could benefit anyone.”
How Did the Program Meet Your Goals?
“The course is really a preparation for parenting. As a parent, I need to be balanced, stabilized and centered around consciousness; be as observant and objective as possible to identify true development needs for my child. With experience gained from the course for both self-awareness growth, and child development knowledge, I am confident on this road to continuously advance myself to be a better parent and a better person.”
“I loved the distance course because it allowed for flexibility and I was able to complete it at my own pace. I would love to connect with others doing this course or who have done it, or perhaps have more opportunities to work in person together.”
Areas of Greatest Gain/Transformation?
“What anthroposophy has brought to me, was never direct and straight forward, because what our sensational organs can sense as direct is only in the physical world, which is also the last one and hardest one to show changes. But all the experiences and exercises I had in anthroposophy were like wine fermentation, that some magical changes were happening, and time would reveal their achievement.”
Origins of the Program
This program was developed by Gene Campbell who passed away in August 2018. Since its inception, it has reached hundreds of people searching for meaning in a dissonant world.
