Tilo Crass, Director of Biodynamic Farming Education: Tilo Crass is a seasoned biodynamic farmer, educator, and consultant with over 25 years of hands-on experience. He is the founder of Bear River Farms in Nova Scotia and CEO of Bear Consulting Limited. Born and raised in Germany, Tilo studied under leading biodynamic mentors at the Dottenfelder Hof. He served as a Director at Demeter Canada and VIDAR Foundation and he is a recognized Biodynamic Advisor by the Agricultural Section at the Goetheanum. Tilo combines practical farming knowledge with a deep commitment to anthroposophy, offering a visionary yet grounded approach to biodynamic education at Rudolf Steiner College Canada.
At this time we say so long to Robby Gass, our outgoing Director of the program. Robby joined RSCC in 2023, and since then, has successfully led the creation of the program and the approval process with the Ontario Ministry of Colleges and Universities. We wish Robby well as he moves on to expand the field of regenerative agriculture in British Columbia and beyond.
The RSCC two-year Biodynamic Farming Diploma program provides students with 840 hours of education and practical training. It is suited to both aspiring and seasoned farmers.
The curriculum has been developed to give participants a deep insight into every relevant aspect of starting and operating a diversified farm. It will also enable participants to apply and understand all biodynamic farming principles, practices and methods.
Biodynamic agriculture is based on the wisdom about the human being and its relationship to the earth and cosmos. It requires a deep engagement with Rudolf Steiner’s Agricultural Lectures which will become the foundation of this class.
Students are invited to enter into a living and expanded understanding of the soil, the plants, the wild and domestic animals and the human being as an integral part of an individualized farm organism.
The program is open to participants at all levels of experience, and from all corners of the world.
This program is approved as a vocational program under the Ontario Career Colleges Act, 2005, and is offered by Rudolf Steiner College Canada in collaboration with Demeter Canada.
