Head, heart, and hands — a different kind of teacher training

Rudolf Steiner College Canada offers rigorous and inspiring Waldorf Teacher Education Programs designed to meet your professional development objectives. Our programs are experiential and are generously enriched with a host of artistic and craft workshops to engage your head, heart and hands.

The College’s programs have been preparing Waldorf teachers since 1985 and our graduates are now teaching in Waldorf schools on five continents.

We focus on the three pillars of teacher education:

• Child development – deep knowledge of development at work in body, soul and spirit
• Waldorf pedagogy – broad set of knowledge and embodied skills that a teacher needs to work successfully with children, parents and fellow teachers
• Self development – explored through the arts, crafts and contemplative practices

These programs do not lead to membership with the College of ECEs or the College of Teachers.

Full-time grades — one year

One year on campus, September through May plus three weeks in July. No prior teaching experience needed. Covers the full Waldorf journey from kindergarten through high school. Ten weeks classroom practice, arts and crafts throughout, low student-to-teacher ratio.

Part-time grades — three years

For practicing Waldorf grades teachers seeking full qualification. July workshops, two weeks, plus February workshops, one week each year, plus personal mentoring. Study while you teach.

Three pathways to deepen your early childhood practice.

Early Childhood

Full-time birth to seven — one year

One year on campus, September through May. Birth-to-seven focus. Also covers grades and high school for career flexibility. No prior experience required. IASWECE and WECAN recognized.

Part-time birth to seven — every other year

For working educators deepening Waldorf early childhood knowledge. New cohorts every other year — check current intake.

Part-time birth to three — every other year

For caregivers and educators working with infants and toddlers in the critical first three years of life. New cohorts every other year — check current intake.

Healing education and remedial training — the H.E.A.R.T. program

As more children face sensory, emotional, and educational challenges, Waldorf teachers need tools to meet every child where they are. The H.E.A.R.T. program gives educators practical, Steiner-informed remedial skills — so that with the right support, struggling children can progress and find their footing.
