Dear Students, Colleagues, Community Members and Friends,

It is with pleasure that I would like to inform you that we have a new Executive Director. Marta Bak, who has been our Student Support and Outreach Manager for the past 17 months, has been hired by the RSCC Board of Directors effective February 1, 2024.

At this time, we say farewell to James Brian, who has fulfilled this role for the last six years. James, with his many talents, commitment and love for the anthroposophical and Waldorf movements, has led the college on its path to foster cultural renewal. He has guided us through the complex processes of, among others, moving from being Rudolf Steiner Centre Toronto to becoming Rudolf Steiner College Canada, becoming a career college recognized by the Ministry of Colleges and Universities, acceptance in the International Student program, and establishing Star Seedlings Family and Childcare Centre, all while helping us grow our Waldorf Education Full-time and Part-time and other programs. James’s collegiality helped build and nurture professional relationships with individuals and school communities. He nurtured our students with warmth, joy, wisdom and understanding. Over the years, we all experienced his gentle ways in which he gave of himself and his time. We are grateful to James for his dedication.

As we move forward, we welcome Marta. Marta has been a dedicated member of the Waldorf community for the past 14 years as a parent and more recently, as a grandparent. Since September 2022, while at RSCC, she worked with James, colleagues, students and community members to help the college in realizing its goals. Marta has worked and volunteered in the not-for-profit sector almost all her adulty life, more recently, in housing, and before that, in immigration. She studied anthropology and international development at the bachelor level and later received a master’s degree in social anthropology. Marta brings a warm and welcoming demeanor, a tireless and efficient approach to the work and a commitment to anthroposophy and the college. You can reach her at mbak@rscc.ca or 905-764-7570. We are delighted to have her join us in this new capacity.

Warm regards,

Robert McKay, Chair, Board of Directors
