This year RSCC is offering a total of 27 different courses in Waldorf education, anthroposophy and the arts as part of our annual Summer Festival of Arts and Education. Dates for the Festival this year are July 8 – 26.

Grade Intensives for Grades 1 through 8

The first week will be devoted to grade intensives for Waldorf teachers preparing for September, once again featuring five days of grade-specific programs running from 9 am to 3 pm, followed by an hour of movement classes in two groups for grades 1-4 and 5-8.

General-Interest Courses

Weeks two and three offer a wide range of Waldorf, arts and general interest anthroposophy course. This year’s offerings include a week with Dr. Kenneth McAlister who will explore existential human questions like “What Am I? Why Am I Here? What Can I Do?”.

Painting and the Arts

Regine Kurek will lead an afternoon course in week two exploring “The Foundation Stone Meditation and Our Biography”. There will also be painting courses offered including “Veil Painting” with Jef Saunders, “For the Love of Painting” with Berit Strasser. Larry Young’s course “Art for Art’s Sake or Art for Humanity’s Sake” will also include painting.

Early Childhood Courses

This year there will be three early-childhood-related courses beginning with a study of the four lower senses with Laurie Harper-Burgess on week two mornings, followed by Puppetry and Felting with Diane Goldsmith in the afternoons. Week three will feature a course on “Working with Silk Marionettes” with Laurie Harper-Burgess.
